A very rare, extremely productive, spicy pepper William Woys Weaver introduced us to this pepper from his grandfather's collection. His grandfather received pepper from African-American popular artist Horace Pippin in 1944. A chameleon like pepper that has changes in color during maturation; violet to pink color, then orange changes to brown and finally to intense red. The long, round pods reach 6 to 7 inches long and experience a unique change of taste as they also mature, with the red ones are sweeter and flesher than the violet.
